          <p>13 March 2018, Oxford, UK: Barry Mortimer has been assigned the role of Sporting Director within the NIO Formula E Team, bolstering his current position of NIO Performance Programme Operations Director.</p>

<p>Barry was a new recruit to the NIO Formula E Team for the 2016/17 season and joined from Team Aguri where he was Head of Team Operations. He has a wealth of motorsport management experience and has held positions at Virgin Formula E Team as well as the Lotus and Renault F1 Teams.</p>

<p>Barry started with NIO as Team Manager and was promoted in March 2017 to Operations Director of the Performance Programme, running the EP9 electric supercar User Experience Programme in China. His recent appointment will see Barry adopt the role of FIA Sporting Liaison for the NIO Formula E Team.</p>

<p><strong>3rd December 2017</strong>: The opening double-header event of the 2017/18 FIA Formula E Championship took place at the stunning central harbourfront location in Hong Kong. NIO Formula E Team drivers Oliver Turvey and Luca Filippi were behind the wheels of the four NextEV NIO 003 challengers for Saturday’s 43-lap and Sunday’s 45-lap events. The team leaves Hong Kong not only as the recipient of a double Fanboost win courtesy of Luca and the team’s supporters, but also with nine championship points from Luca’s tenth place finish on Saturday and Oliver’s sixth position today.</p>

<p>Following the success of the inaugural Hong Kong E-Prix in Season Three, this year’s event was expanded to two races, making Hong Kong the first Asian city to host a double-header. The 1.15 miles long circuit raced around the streets of the Hong Kong's Central Harbourfront, with landmarks such as the International Finance Centre, Hong Kong Observation Wheel and Hong Kong City Hall providing a spectacular backdrop.</p>

<p>On Saturday, Oliver qualified in seventh and finished the race in 17th, while Formula E rookie Luca qualified in 15th and took the chequered flag in tenth to collect one championship point on his electric racing debut. Today, Oliver qualified in eighth, with team-mate Luca alongside him in ninth on the starting grid. In the race Oliver collected eight valuable points from a respectable sixth place finish, while Luca fell victim to a lap one incident which effectively ended his race before it had truly begun.</p>

<p>The championship continues in the new year on 13th January 2018 when it returns to the Circuit International Automobile Moulay El Hassan in Marrakesh.</p>

<p><strong>Oliver Turvey (Car #16)</strong><br />
“Saturday was frustrating as it started with a red flag in my qualifying session that affected my flying lap. I got an amazing start to the race from P7; down to turn one I was able to overtake three people on entry and cut back and gain another position on the exit; it was definitely one of the best starts I’ve had in Formula E! We were in a really good position after a red flag re-start and I felt very comfortable in the car, but with eight laps to go before the pit stop I had an issue and lost power. I managed to roll the car back to the pits, but it did mean that I had a very long second stint which made it difficult to manage energy. It’s frustrating having a technical issue when you’re in a good racing position and I feel that we lost the potential to score a lot of points and a podium finish yesterday.</p>

<p>“We were quick again in practice and qualifying today. I started the race in eighth, which was obviously a good place to fight for the points, but it’s a shame it was behind the safety car as I was hoping to make up a few places going in to turn one again! Compared to last year I think we have made a good step in terms of pace and certainly I felt that we were able to race (remove - a bit more) this weekend. It was a well-executed race by everyone and it was great to come home in the points for the team.”</p>

<p><strong>Luca Filippi (Car #68)</strong><br />
“There was a lot going on in race one right from the start and we had very good pace. I had a drive through penalty and lost some time there and this is why we were not higher up in the points. But for the rest we had a strong car, strong pace and showed that we have potential, so that at least is very promising.<br />
The second race was potentially good; unfortunately, I got hit on the very first lap and the front suspension was bent, so obviously I was compromised and we had to change it. After that we just gained as much experience as we could by finishing the race. It’s a shame as it could have been another points finish for us with two cars, but on to Marrakesh.”</p>

<p><strong>Gérry Hughes, Team Principal</strong><br />
“Luca coming in and finishing with one point in the end of his first E-Prix was very pleasing for him and good for the team. Oliver was unfortunately blighted with a technical issue with the car in his first stint which effectively took him out of the running for the remainder of the race. All in all it was a difficult qualifying session followed by quite a difficult race for the team yesterday.</p>

<p>"Qualifying for round two brought a much more solid performance from both drivers, lining up on the grid in eighth and ninth positions. That was a great place to start, but unfortunately Luca got involved in a racing incident in the opening lap which took him out of the running, but we decided to keep going on the basis that it would be good experience for him. Oliver had a better race today – it was thankfully an uneventful race for him and we managed to pick up P6. It was a better day all round and the whole weekend has been a learning experience for us. I’m glad we had the opportunity of coming back today and going through it all over again and now we’ll go away, reflect on our experiences from Hong Kong and put our best foot forward for Marrakesh.”</p>

<p><strong>July 31, 2017</strong> – Las Vegas, NV – The NIO U.S. team took home First Place at DEF CON 25 2017 Car Hacking Village, beating out 10 other teams in the third annual “Capture The Flag” (CTF) security event.</p>

<p>“We’re incredibly proud of what our team accomplished,” says Abe Chen, NIO U.S., Director of Product and Information Security, who lead the four-person team. “The competition was fierce and it was down to the wire. But we had a blast and can’t thank the Car Hacking Village enough for the opportunity—and prizes.”</p>

<p>At the annual security conferences in Las Vegas last week, researchers and hackers devised a series of challenges to understand the vulnerabilities of our connected world. One topic that has gained exposure over the last year has been security vulnerabilities in modern automobiles. The Car Hacking Village is comprised of both professionals and hobbyists working together to provide hands-on, interactive car-hacking skills. At CTF, participants work on a wide array of security challenges, covering WiFi, ECUs, over-the-air updates, encryption, infotainment, gateways, and remote hacking of connected vehicles.</p>

<p>The NIO U.S. “Robamierdas” team, won the First Place Prize which included a new Ford F-150 pickup truck and the coveted lifetime DEF CON “Black Badge.” A Black Badge is one of the highest honors that DEF CON, bestows in recognition of overall elite skills and outstanding contribution to the security community.</p>

          <p>The 2016/17 FIA Formula E Championship concluded today with its final events in Montreal, Canada. Nelson Piquet Jr and Oliver Turvey were in action for the 12th race of the season for the NextEV NIO Formula E Team.</p>

<p>Ahead of today’s 37-lap race, Nelson qualified in 8th and Oliver in 16th. In the race, Nelson was forced to avoid an incident at the first corner, which dropped him down the order. Twinned with powertrain issues, he finished the race in 17th. Oliver managed to improve on his starting position initially, but then suffered powertrain issues and crossed the line in 16th. This followed on from Nelson and Oliver finishing in 13th and 15th places respectively in yesterday’s 35-lap race.</p>

<p>After another extremely competitive season of Formula E racing, the NextEV NIO Formula E Team finished the year sixth in the Manufacturers’ Championship having scored 59 points. Stand-out moments of the season for the team included two pole positions, with Nelson’s in Hong Kong and Oliver’s in Mexico City, a run of eight Super Pole qualifying results (which is a Formula E record) and a fourth-place finish in Monaco for Nelson. In the Drivers’ Championship, Nelson finished 11th with 33 points, with Oliver in 12th in the standings having scored 26 points.</p>

<p>The 2017/18 FIA Formula E Championship will kick off in Hong Kong with a double-header race weekend on 2 and 3 December 2017.</p>

<p><b>Nelson Piquet Jr (Car #3)</b></p>

<p><i>“Obviously we are really disappointed with how the last few races of the season have gone. We hoped to end in a more positive way and were aiming for points this weekend but unfortunately that hasn’t happened due to the problems we’ve had with the car. I was unfortunate to be held up in the first corner incident today and then suffered some thermal issues with the powertrain which meant we had to change our strategy and do a shorter first stint. I was taking some risks in the second stint and it didn’t work out. We have had some highs and lows this season; we were very happy with pole in Hong Kong and I was also pleased with the result in Monaco, but we still have a huge amount of work to do in order to fight at the top and that has to be the focus before we return to Hong Kong in December.”</i></p>

<p><b>Oliver Turvey (Car #88)</b></p>

<p><i>“This morning in practice I thought we made a few steps forward with set-up. I felt confident going into qualifying but the track seemed to change and unfortunately I clipped the wall which cost us a lot of time and a potential top ten qualifying. Starting at the back is always hard. I had quite a good start and the pace appeared good in the opening laps but the second stint was much harder and in the end we couldn’t keep position. It was a shame to end the season like this but we have to take some positives from the year. I got my first Formula E pole position in Mexico and led a race and to finish sixth in the manufacturers’ championship was a step forward from last year, so hopefully we can build on that for next season.”</i></p>

<p><b>Gérry Hughes, Team Principal</b></p>

<p><i>“It’s hugely disappointing to leave the final race of the season without scoring points here in Montreal. Nelson qualified in eighth today yet had to take evasive action on the first corner and that ultimately lost him four positions. Oliver was able to make a good start, moving up three places from his starting spot. Both drivers then experienced thermal issues with the powertrain during the race and we could not fight for points. Clearly this season has not been as successful for the NextEV NIO Formula E Team as was originally hoped. However, we have some positives to take away, particularly with our qualifying performances but our weakness has been our race performance. This is something that we will be focusing on in the off-season as we must come to the first race of Season 4 in Hong Kong with an all-round competitive package.”</i></p>
