NIO and Bosch Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement

February 25, 2026, Beijing, China - During German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s first official visit to China, NIO Inc. (“NIO”) and Bosch signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Representing the two sides, Dr. Shen Feng, Executive Vice President of NIO and Chairman of its Quality Management Committee, and Dr. Johannes Sommerhaeuser, Regional President Asia-Pacific at Bosch Global Business Services and Member of the Bosch China Management Board, signed the agreement. 

The partnership will span the NIO, ONVO, and firefly brands, and focus on in-depth collaboration across core smart electric vehicle technologies, including drive-by-wire chassis and battery management systems, as well as key systems and components such as braking, steering, powertrain, body electronics, and sensing modules.

Through this agreement, NIO and Bosch will further advance joint innovation in critical smart EV technologies, leveraging complementary strengths across the industrial value chain to support high-quality development of the sector. The partnership also underscores the continued deepening of China–Germany cooperation in energy transition and high-end manufacturing, contributing to sustainable global development and strengthened bilateral economic ties.

On the afternoon of February 25, Chinese Premier Li Qiang and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz jointly presided over a symposium of the China-Germany Economic Advisory Committee at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, with more than 60 business leaders from both countries in attendance. William Li, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of NIO, attended the symposium as a representative of China’s automotive industry.

During the discussions, Li joined Chinese and German industry leaders to exchange views on green and low-carbon development, digital transformation, supply chain resilience, and the bilateral investment environment. He also engaged with representatives from German automotive companies on advancing mutual benefit and shared growth amid the global automotive industry’s accelerating shift toward electrification and smart mobility.
