NIO Achieves 100 Million Battery Swaps

February 6, 2026, Shanghai, China - At 22:33:18 (GMT+8), NIO completed its 100 millionth battery swap. The milestone swap was delivered to a NIO user driving an ET5 Touring from Haining, Zhejiang Province in China. To mark this historic moment, NIO’s Founder, Chairman, and CEO William Li joined users, partners, and employees at the NIO Delivery Center in Nanxiang, Shanghai, for a live-streamed celebration, witnessing together a defining chapter for the Company.

NIO Power Swap takes an average of just three minutes, and the cumulative energy delivered through these swaps has reached 5.28 billion kWh. Compared with conventional EV charging, these 100 million swaps have saved users a total of 83.41 million hours, averaging over 88 hours per users. Compared with refueling, they have saved users more than RMB 26.3 billion in energy costs, or over RMB 27,000 per user on average. Battery swapping has significantly reduced the time and cost of ownership for users. Moreover, NIO’s Power Swap Stations centrally manage and monitor batteries, ensuring their health and safety. These 100 million swaps are equivalent to 100 million comprehensive battery health checks, giving users peace of mind on every journey. Compared with similar internal combustion engine vehicles, low-carbon mobility has reduced carbon emissions by 4,169.5 tons, equal to the amount absorbed annually by roughly 167,000 trees. Besides, by participating in grid interaction, NIO’s battery swapping network has supported load shifting exceeding 740 million kWh, reducing grid pressure and enhancing energy utilization.

At the event, William Li and NIO’s senior management reflected on NIO’s journey of innovation in battery swapping and the path it has taken to scale. To date, the Company holds over 2,100 patents in charging and swapping technologies, including more than 1,500 patents in battery swapping. At the same time, NIO continues to advance battery swapping technology and expand battery compatibility across multiple brands and vehicle models. In 2026, NIO’s fifth-generation Power Swap Stations will go live.

Since the launch of the first swap station in 2018, NIO has deployed a total of 3,790 Power Swap Stations worldwide. Along major highways in China, NIO has built 1,020 Power Swap Stations, effectively eliminating range anxiety for NIO and ONVO users on long-distance journeys. In 2026, the Company plans to build 1,000 additional Power Swap Stations, grow its Power Journeys to 100 routes, and connect the Power Swap route along the Silk Road, further expanding the boundaries of users’ EV travel.
