Munich – Today, the NIO EP9 set a new lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, achieving a lap time of 6m 45.900s (six minutes, 45.900 seconds).

The FIA Formula E Championship moves to Monaco, utilising part of the world-famous Formula 1 circuit, for the fifth round of the 2016/17 campaign. Nelson Piquet Jr and Oliver Turvey will be in action for the NextEV NIO Formula-e Team on the streets of the Principality this Saturday, 13 May.

Today, NIO, a next-generation car company is showcasing 11 vehicles for their Chinese debut at the 2017 Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition. The company unveiled the ES8, their new vehicle for the China market that is planned for serial production later this year, and announced they will begin taking pre-orders of their flagship supercar, the NIO EP9.

The NextEV NIO Formula E Team collected five championship points today in Mexico City, with Oliver Turvey collecting three points for pole position and Nelson Piquet Jr picking up a further two points for finishing ninth. The fourth round of the 2016/17 FIA Formula E Championship took place at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in the Mexican capital.

March, 16 – The NIO EP9 set a new record for a production vehicle at the Shanghai International Circuit, achieving a lap time of 2m 01s (two minutes, 01 seconds). The record was achieved by Formula E driver Oliver Turvey. The new recod is 24 seconds faster than the previous one set by the Mercedes SLS AMG. 

2m 01s: NIO EP9 Breaks Production Car Lap Record at Shanghai International Circuit

Today, NIO, a next-generation car company, announced the fastest ever autonomous lap at the Circuit of the Americas Race Track in Austin, Texas. On February 23, the NIO EP9 drove autonomously without any interventions, recording a time of 2m 40.33s (two minutes, 40.33 seconds) at a top speed of 160 mph. The same day, the NIO EP9 also beat the fastest COTA lap time for a production car with a driver, achieving a lap time of 2m 11.30s (two minutes, 11.30 seconds) and reaching a top speed of 170 mph.

NIO Sets a New Record for the Fastest Autonomous Car in the World

The Argentine city of Buenos Aires played host to round three of the 2016/17 FIA Formula E Championship. The NextEV NIO Formula E Team duo of Nelson Piquet Jr and Oliver Turvey had a strong day on South American soil, scoring a double points finish for the team by finishing in fifth and ninth respectively. The result saw NexteEV NIO collect 12 championship points, which elevated them to fourth in the team standings, moving above MS Amlin Andretti and DS Virgin Racing.
